NEAL - Term 3 recap and onwards into Term 4!
Hi all,
Term 3 is almost behind us! It has been an active and eventful time for many schools.
Here are just some of the hi-lights:
neXpo - Primary, Intermediate, and Secondary (above pics). neXpo was an interesting insight into what some teachers are doing to raise student engagement and teacher capacity in their schools. The experiences shared with e-Learning, and ICT integration in curricular areas was and is of huge benefit to us all. Many teachers found other like minded people from around NEAL, providing further opportunity for new collaborative projects and intiatives. We'll be doing it again later in Term 1, 2012. ALL SCHOOLS ARE WELCOME!
Thanks to all teachers and students who presented. A special thanks to Geoff Wood from Rosmini College for his participation and support in all three sessions.
Some of the other events and initiatives that took place around NEAL in Term 3:
Teach the Teachers Session - Led by Claire Amos, Director of e-Learning at Epsom Girls' Grammar, this was a very timely and informative session into how her school is reshaping ICT and e-Learning. Claire walks the talk!
Harbour Net. Let by Kate Shevland (Orewa College) and Carolyn Bennett (FarNet), several schools from around NEAL and the Auckland area have forged ahead with Video conferencing and distance e-Learning opportunities for 2012.
MyPortfolio. Heath Sawyer has supported a number of our schools both with introductory taster sessions and specialized areas for particular schools. Take a look at the NEAL site for sessions in Term 4.
Google Apps and moving further into the 'cloud'. In this flexible space, many have discovered the benefits of sharing, collaborating, and communicating between other teachers and with student groups. Check the website for more opportunties in Term 4.
iPad Best Practice User Group - Murrays Bay Intermediate hosted a 'taster' session for those interested in the benefits of iPads in the classroom. If you would like to be part of this growing group in Term 4, please contact me: andrew.cowie@neal.school.nz. Stay tuned for more in Term 4!
We have more events slotted in for next term, with more to be added.
We will be sending out an Upcoming Events newsletter in the coming weeks, but for now please check the website:
www.neal.school.nz
Don't forget, you can easily sign up to most events directly on the website. In addition, you can browse and add Teaching & Learning resources, add Third Party events to the calendar to share with other schools, and interact with Polls & Forums.
Many thanks to the lead teachers from around NEAL who have supported and initated events and other PD.
Have a fantastic Term break. Rest, recharge, and we will look forward to seeing you down the road!
