e-portfolios: what and how?

Friday, May 25, 2012 - 09:00 - 15:00

Description

What are e-portfolios and how can I use them to raise achievement for my students?  Mark Osborne (DP at Albany Senior High School) will help you explore these questions.2012 is the year of the e-portfolio, but very few of us know what they are and how they can be used to promote student learning. They are an increasingly compelling way to promote lifelong learning, celebrate success and encourage students to reflect on their learning and their achievement at school. Find out how to promote deep, reflective learning using student-owned, multimedia tools. Reference to the NZC and Key Competencies will be made, and particular focus will be given to the role peer feedback can play in promoting achievement. Bring your notebook or tablet; the main part of the day will entail Mark sharing and demonstrating tools and options. After lunch you can explore the tools yourself or in your team and spend time with Mark around questions and issues pertaining to your school environment.
